Στην έρευνα που διεξήχθη από το NTG τα ακόλουθα θεωρούνται ως κοινές λειτουργικές περιοχές. Μια υγιής επιχείρηση λειτουργεί σαν ζωντανό ον με λειτουργικές περιοχές που φροντίζει διαφορετικούς τομείς. Αυτές οι λειτουργικές περιοχές ομαδοποιούν δεξιότητες και εργασίες για τη διαχείριση πτυχών της επιχείρησης που έχουν τα δικά τους πρωτόκολλα και λογική. Ορισμένοι βασικοί λειτουργικοί τομείς, όπως το μάρκετινγκ και τα οικονομικά, μοιράζονται σχεδόν όλες οι επιχειρήσεις. Επίσης περιλαμβάνει να παρακολουθεί τα συστήματα συναγερμού πυρκαγιάς/συστήματος ασφάλειας ζωής, όπως απαιτείται, να ενημερώνεται πλήρως για τη λειτουργία του συστήματος και να χειρίζεται καταστάσεις έκτακτης ανάγκης που αφορούν τα συστήματα και να κάνει σωστή διαχείριση σύμφωνα με τους κανονισμούς, να διατηρεί αποθέματα συντήρησης και εξαρτήματα και προμήθειες που απαιτούνται. Στην έρευνα που διεξήγαγε το NTG τα ακόλουθα θεωρούνται ως συγκεκριμένοι λειτουργικοί τομείς του Τομέα Διαχείρισης Προορισμών. Μια υγιής επιχείρηση λειτουργεί σαν ζωντανό ον με λειτουργικές περιοχές που φροντίζει διαφορετικούς τομείς. Οι συγκεκριμένες λειτουργικές περιοχές ομαδοποιούν δεξιότητες και καθήκοντα για τη διαχείριση πτυχών της επιχείρησης που έχουν τα δικά τους πρωτόκολλα και λογική. Διαχείριση προϊόντων/έργων Τα τουριστικά προϊόντα που βασίζονται στον προορισμό αλλάζουν συνεχώς και προσαρμόζονται στις νέες τάσεις και απαιτήσεις των επισκεπτών. Το DMO μπορεί να βοηθήσει στην ανάπτυξη προϊόντων από την έναρξη έως την παράδοση και να υποστηρίξει την προώθηση και το μάρκετινγκ εμπορικών σημάτων προορισμού και βασικών εξειδικευμένων τουριστικών εμπειριών. Η καινοτομία και οι ποιοτικές εμπειρίες των επισκεπτών και τα νέα τουριστικά προϊόντα και υπηρεσίες πρέπει να ενσωματωθούν στη συνολική εικόνα της τοποθεσίας ή της περιοχής προορισμού. Για το σκοπό αυτό, μπορούν να αναπτυχθούν κριτήρια ποιότητας για την υποστήριξη του μάρκετινγκ και της διαφήμισης της επωνυμίας προορισμού σε συνεργασία με άλλα σχετικά τμήματα. Οι διαχειριστές έργων που βασίζονται στον προορισμό συμβουλεύουν και εκπροσωπούν τον πελάτη και είναι υπεύθυνοι για την καθημερινή διαχείριση των έργων. Οι αρμοδιότητες μπορεί να περιλαμβάνουν ανάθεση/διαχείριση της ομάδας σχεδιασμού, προμήθειες, αρχές σχεδιασμού, προϋπολογισμό, εργολάβους, επιχειρήσεις κοινής ωφέλειας, ασφάλειες, αλλαγή, τον κύκλο ζωής του έργου και διαχείριση εγγράφων, παρακολούθηση και χρόνο αναφοράς, κόστος, ποιότητα και κίνδυνο. Οι ψηφιακές δεξιότητες διευκολύνουν την ικανότητα να βρει και να χρησιμοποιήσει κατάλληλα εργαλεία κατάλληλα για εργασίες ανάπτυξης προϊόντων και διαχείρισης έργου, π.χ. δημιουργία ψηφιακών διαδρομών, διαχείριση ψηφιακών συστημάτων διαχείρισης έργων. Οι πράσινες δεξιότητες συμβάλλουν στην υποστήριξη της περιβαλλοντικής διαχείρισης στον προορισμό καθώς και στην ενθάρρυνση των παρόχων υπηρεσιών προς την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος μέσω φιλικών προς το περιβάλλον τουριστικών προϊόντων και υπηρεσιών, μείωσης ενέργειας, διαχείρισης νερού και απορριμμάτων. Οι κοινωνικές δεξιότητες, όπως η ικανότητα αποτελεσματικής επικοινωνίας και ομαδικής εργασίας, η ακρόαση και η ενσυναίσθηση, είναι σημαντικές για την επιτυχή εργασία με μεμονωμένα τμήματα. Σχέσεις εταιρικής σχέσης και κοινότητας Οι προορισμοί περιλαμβάνουν διατομεακά δίκτυα και συνεργασίες πολλών ενδιαφερομένων. Η αποτελεσματική συμμετοχική δέσμευση και διαχείριση του δικτύου και των ενδιαφερομένων είναι ένας βασικός παράγοντας επιτυχίας. Οι διαχειριστές εταιρικών σχέσεων και δικτύων έχουν ως αποστολή τη δημιουργία μιας σχετικής διβιομηχανικής δομής δικτύων και κουλτούρας συνεργασίας για την αλληλεπίδραση των παραγόντων του δικτύου καθώς και για την ενίσχυση των περιφερειακών οικονομικών κύκλων με εξάρτηση από τον τουρισμό. Για το σκοπό αυτό, είναι σημαντικό να καθοριστούν εννοιολογικές και επιχειρησιακές διεπαφές για έργα και δραστηριότητες που βασίζονται σε συνεπείς προσεγγίσεις και συνδέσεις με το εμπορικό σήμα περιφερειακού ή τοπικού προορισμού, για την ανάπτυξη απτών οφελών για τους ενδιαφερόμενους και μιας ολοκληρωμένης ιδέας δικτυακού μάρκετινγκ. Οι ψηφιακές δεξιότητες υποστηρίζουν το συντονισμό της δικτύωσης και της εσωτερικής επικοινωνίας. Οι πράσινες δεξιότητες βοηθούν στον επηρεασμό των εταίρων του δικτύου για έναν βιώσιμο περιβαλλοντικό προσανατολισμό της τουριστικής προσφοράς. Μια υγιής επιχείρηση λειτουργεί σαν ζωντανό ον με λειτουργικές περιοχές που φροντίζει διαφορετικούς τομείς. Οι συγκεκριμένες λειτουργικές περιοχές ομαδοποιούν δεξιότητες και καθήκοντα για τη διαχείριση πτυχών της επιχείρησης που έχουν τα δικά τους πρωτόκολλα και λογική. Διαχείριση προϊόντων/έργων Τα τουριστικά προϊόντα που βασίζονται στον προορισμό αλλάζουν συνεχώς και προσαρμόζονται στις νέες τάσεις και απαιτήσεις των επισκεπτών. Το DMO μπορεί να βοηθήσει στην ανάπτυξη προϊόντων από την έναρξη έως την παράδοση και να υποστηρίξει την προώθηση και το μάρκετινγκ εμπορικών σημάτων προορισμού και βασικών εξειδικευμένων τουριστικών εμπειριών. Η καινοτομία και οι ποιοτικές εμπειρίες των επισκεπτών και τα νέα τουριστικά προϊόντα και υπηρεσίες πρέπει να ενσωματωθούν στη συνολική εικόνα της τοποθεσίας ή της περιοχής προορισμού. Οι κοινωνικές δεξιότητες, όπως η ικανότητα αποτελεσματικής επικοινωνίας και ομαδικής εργασίας, η ακρόαση και η ενσυναίσθηση, είναι σημαντικές για την επιτυχή εργασία με μεμονωμένα τμήματα. Σχέσεις εταιρικής σχέσης και κοινότητας Οι προορισμοί περιλαμβάνουν διατομεακά δίκτυα και συνεργασίες πολλών ενδιαφερομένων. Οι ψηφιακές δεξιότητες υποστηρίζουν το συντονισμό της δικτύωσης και της εσωτερικής επικοινωνίας. Οι πράσινες δεξιότητες βοηθούν στον επηρεασμό των εταίρων του δικτύου για έναν βιώσιμο περιβαλλοντικό προσανατολισμό της τουριστικής προσφοράς.
